Are You Still Hooked?

Fellow Fly Fishers,

Just over thirty days ago, there we were, together on the banks of the Au Sable. All of us had a reason why we traveled to Grayling for that 2 1/2 day retreat. Maybe the reason hadn’t truly surfaced before our arrival or while Bruce and Joe were assisting us with our lugggage, but it was there, in our hearts.

There were 41 participants and volunteers. A truly wonderful, loving and diverse group. Beyond the many smiles, tears and hugs we shared are the memories of stepping into the river for the first time in waders, casting a line, tying your own fly, sharing our stories, perhaps catching a fish, dancing the "bug dance" and definitely shouting "Fish On!"

Many thanks to the volunteers who were there to assist and guide us on and off the river. They each added their own unique gifts to make the retreat the best ever. A giant thank you to Rusty & Julie Gates and the entire staff of Gates Lodge. The food was superb and the staff top-notch as always.

As a reminder, group photos, contact lists, etc will be mailed to you in the near future. We’re planning to mail our newsletter in October. If you would like to submit a story, quote, poem, photo, etc., please forward it to us by September 27th. We’ll keep you in the loop about future outings, retreats, volunteer opportunities, etc. via mail or email. Remember to let us know how you’re doing as well.
